Outside the Edo Castle, the men fought for power and glory. Within the castle, the women fought for even more. Fuji TV's luscious period drama Ooku, first aired in 2003, brought viewers deep into the castle to the expansive inner courts housing the wives and concubines of the Tokugawa shogun.
