Biography:
Chicosci is a 5 piece band based in Manila. The band is composed of vocalist Miguel Chavez, bassist Carlos Calderon, drummer Joel Salvador, guitarists Sonny Baquisal and Mong Alcaraz. They were first named Chico Science in homage to the Brazilian musician of same name. They later shortened this to Chicosci in order to avoid confusion with the Brazilian artist.

Chicosci's biggest mainstream hit is "Paris" from their sophomore effort "Method of Breathing". "Paris" stands as the only song to hold the number one spot on Manila rock station NU 107's Midnight Countdown for a lengthy period of time. "Shallow Graves" from the third release, "Icarus", peaked highest at number 7. Now armed with their latest album, "Chicosci", the band garnered another number one hit with "A Promise" and their latest release, "7 Black Roses".

Chicosci recently went on a tour in Malaysia entitled Crossborders with popular bands Love Me Butch and Prana, and another tour in Singapore with lots of bands, prominently with A Vacant Affair at the Arts House.

[Eugene Esquivas]](percussions) departed from the group in early 2007 to migrate to Canada.

Trivia:
• Miguel Chavez is narcoleptic(condition with uncontrollable sleeping)
• Mong Alcaraz is vegetarian(somebody not eating meat or fish)
• Sonny Baquisal is the oldest in the band
• Carlos Calderon listens to 311 and Deftones before every gig
• Joel Salvador hates worms

From the Editor's Desk:
Thanks to Wikipedia for the above information. The first time I heard Chicosci was when their song “7 Black Roses” was played on MYX. I thought they were just mimicking the style of My Chemical Romance but when I saw and heard their Chicosci Vampire Social Club music video, it kept playing in my mind. Regardless of the lyrics of this song (because for me it cheers up juvenile delinquents), the music is more pleasing to the ears compared to other metallic bands. I am not a fan of Chicosci but I am proud that Filipinos can really compete with foreign bands. Keep rockin’!
